The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Cranes and EBM!

FILM

Yesterday evening I saw a film that I had no big expectations on:

It turned out to be really good, but I need to say that I was in a sensitive mood as well!
If you look for action go somewhere else... if you want a girly film about love and other things that might touch your senses this might be worth checking out!

CRANES

Today I have been occupied on a course learning how to handle lifting-cranes up to 10Tons and I will do the same the whole day tomorrow, quite fun actually as I today had the opportunity to handle a crane that could lift 63Tons but we "only" lifted a concrete block of 11Tons and manouvred it along a little path. I decided to take this course since I might need to lift some equipment/machines in my work.

Did you know that the security factor for anything that comes with cranehandling here in europe is 7-fold (If a wire is said to hold up to 1Ton it actually holds for 7!, however you should NEVER exceed the 1Ton it was made to be used for.)
Yes, I knew you would enjoy reading this! ;)

EBM

Now for something completely different...
In my youth (well, that sounds like I am very old) I listened sometimes to EBM (Electronic Body Music) and one of those groups were DAF (Deutche Amerikanische Freundshaft). Some month ago I got to know there was an EMB-group formed in my hometown, Sandviken, Sweden. The group is called "Sturmcafé" and they are really good, all songs are in German and some are downloadable for free on their homepage:

If you are not really a fan of EBM you might wanna look at their video "Der Grosse Schwein" wich is my favourite song. The video is rather good for beeing homemade!
I like to see when young people are successful with what they do, STURMCAFÉ has now been nominated by SAMA (Scandinavian Alternative Music Awards) for 2006 years best newcomer and best artist.

That is really something, congratulations!

Thermometer shows 0°C outside and sun has gone down, now I need to take care of cooking my dinner before I (probably) have a look at some other film.

Cya!

Geneva Webcam

Here you can have a look at a Geneva webcam.

Webcam located on the "Pont de la Machine", in the center of Geneva

1 year ago In Geneva, Switzerland

I just found this picture and remembered how the lakeside in Geneva looked almost exactly one year ago (2005-01-29)...
I wonder what the owner thought.. "Step into my coool car!" ? :)

SKODA RS / RS2

So the new SKODA RS has been launched and beefed up a little, it now has a 2.0 litre engine of 200HP (same as Golf GTi) compared to the old one wich was 1.8Litre and 180HP, both equipped with turbo of course!
The exterior has changed as well as the interior (new front, back, seats etc.) another thing I noticed is that you could get a really good soundsystem now. I listened to it at a Swedish Skoda retailer and it was in fact really good!

This is the old model (wich I have one identical of):

Performance figures

Power 180 bhp / 134 KW @ 5500 rpm
Torque 235 Nm / 173 ft lbs @ 1950 rpm
BHP/Liter 101 bhp / liter
Power to weight ratio 0.13 bhp / kg
Top Speed 235 km/h / 146 mph
0-60 mph Acceleration 7.7 s

And here is the new one:

Performance figures

Power 200 bhp / 147 KW @ 5100-6000 rpm
Torque 280 Nm / 206 ft lbs @ 1800-5000 rpm
BHP/Liter 101 bhp / liter
Power to weight ratio 0.14 bhp / kg
Top Speed 240 km/h / 149 mph
0-60 mph Acceleration 7.3 s

REMEMBER!

to relax and feel good, take care of eachother and every day that you have with the loved one's...

This evening me and my friends are going to eat at the local chinese resturant called "Muraille de Chine".
I love chineese food and during the years I have stayed down here in France I have been there more than just a couple of times.
In fact, I am almost friends with them... LOL! It's been quite a while since I went there the last time now so It is going to be nice with a lot of nice food and some wine together with it! Here is the address if you ever end up in the area:

Restaurant la Muraille de Chine

Le Clos des Vignes

After dinner some of us probably end up at the local bar "Charly's" to have a few cold beverages and enjoy eachother's company!

A friend of mine, Johan Karlsson, has just completed the expedition to Aconcagua (highest mountain of South America) and is now on his way home (supposedly he'll be back today and can tell me more about the adventure).
